Meet Kat a third-generation barber from Venice Beach, California. Growing up, I spent a lot of time in my father's and grandpa's barbershop, watching them cut hair. However, at that time, the idea of cutting hair never appealed to me, especially because there were not any female barbers around. It wasn't until my brother's interest in the craft that motivated me to pursue a career in barbering. He showed me videos of Sophie Stay Gold. Her creative vision and free-style-inspired me to explore my own unique style. In 2020 I enrolled in barber school to gain the knowledge and skills needed to make it in today's competitive industry. Today, it brings me great joy and satisfaction to work as a licensed barber, to be able to bring to life hairstyle visions of my clients while adding my touch of unique creativity. Representing female barbers in and continuing my family's legacy brings me immense pride and gratitude, and I hope to inspire young women to pursue their interests, no matter how unconventional they may seem.
